July Board Meeting

2 x tables of 6 booked, so please book early so that we can book a third table if necessary.

Vocational Visit will be to Sunshine Cider 4 Canara Rd, Kunda Park. They will open especially for us, take us on their “champagne” producing tour at a cost of $25 per person. This will include sampling alcoholic ciders but non-alcoholic will be available.   Pizzas will be delivered for dinner, so total cost pp is $35 for the evening.

Car Pooling is an option.

It is very important that will have the numbers by midday on Friday for catering purposes.

August Board Meeting

The Rotary Club of Caloundra Pacific welcomes the Rotary clubs of the southern Sunshine Coast for the Rotary and University of the Sunshine Coast Community Fund Annual Dinner.

The three scholarship recipients will talk about their research projects at the University of the Sunshine Coast.

Vocational Talk (5 minutes) -  

Please bring your partner along to this unusual and exciting meeting night at the Warbirds Hangar - Ray Capps is giving us an insight into his exciting flying career path!

"Chef" Peter Asher is catering, with a choice from two "home cooked" meals, $25 pp plus drinks - a night not to be missed!

Vocational visit to the Sunshine Coast Airport Control Tower. Partners welcome.
Groups of 10 people starting at 5pm and finish at 6pm; not suitable for people with walking sticks.
​Best if we can car pool due to parking availability.

Dinner booked for 20 to 30 people at 6.15pm at the North Shore Tavern, 698-706 David Low Way, Pacific Paradise QLD 4564.

Business Meeting - Committee reports.

The event will feature food trucks (Rotary, Chill 89 Café, Pete the Greek, Slinky Potatoes, American Hot Dogs), various stalls and activities (face painting, petting zoo, handball, putting contest, axe throwing, basketball), and facilities including a First Aid station, extra toilets, and bins.
The street in front of Chill 89 will be cordoned off for about 90 metres from 9:00 am, with the fair running from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm.
Rotary will have an information stall and will provide general assistance to the public.
Net proceeds will be donated to the National Breast Cancer Foundation.

This evening is an opportunity to meet Mr Andrew Holland and several other members from the Caloundra Lions Club, another like minded service club, and to hear about what they do and how they provide a service to the community.   David Wallis will also give a brief outline of what we, as a Rotary Club, do.

The working bee will take place on 25 October from 8:00am to 10:30am at the hall. There’ll be a range of tasks suited for all abilities, from general cleaning and gardening to minor repairs. Whether you can lend a hand for an hour or the whole morning, your support will be greatly appreciated.

Feel free to bring along any tools, gloves, or equipment (including pressure washers and garden hoses) you think might be useful. Morning tea and snacks will be provided to keep everyone energised.

October Board Meeting

Let's visit the new pizza  location on the outdoor back deck at the Kings Beach Surf Club - magic views, a great place to socialise, weather permitting.   They don't take bookings for the outside deck so if a couple of people can get there early, we may be able to keep a couple of tables.

Each Committee will meet to discuss past events and forthcoming events.

Also discussion about matters/issues relating to each individual committee and discussion to achieve the correct outcome for the Club and its members.

There will also be a tutorial on "How to use ClubRunner".  

NOTE:  Cartwrights can only cater for 20 people - so first 20 to register will be accepted.

Cartwrights Restaurant and Bar offers a fine dining experience at a price you can afford, $45 pp.. Located at our TAFE Mooloolaba campus the restaurant is open to the public at select times for breakfast, lunch and dinner. It can also cater for large groups and functions and is the perfect venue for your next meeting, corporate function, or private celebration.

2024 RUSCCF Scholarship Awardee - Caitlin (Caitie) Willis, PhD Student at UniSC

Caitlin Willis is a PhD candidate at the University of the Sunshine Coast. Caitlin’s research investigates how urbanisation influences terrestrial fauna in coastal wetlands. Her work examines restoration success, the role of invasive species, and the potential of wetlands as biodiversity corridors for native wildlife. Caitlin’s findings aim to inform more effective wetland conservation and restoration strategies in increasingly urbanised coastal landscapes.

Caitlin also collaborates with Wild Asia, Malaysia, a non-for-profit enterprise, where she is working to improve palm oil plantations for terrestrial fauna biodiversity.

Clare studied sports science at Canberra University and holds accreditation with Medicines Australia from The University of Queensland. At QIMR Berghofer, Clare finds the perfect combination of science and communication.

We will also present Ashton Wood from DV Safe Phone with his cheque from Christmas in the Hanger fundraising event.
