Can you tell me how you came to join Rotary, who introduced you and why you joined??
I bought a Real Estate business at Moffat Beach in 1987 and met with Manager of holiday units Alan Billett who was a Rotarian with Calpac. He invited me to meeting in September 1987.
I was inducted as a member at the next meeting and immediately became Vocational director.
I have been very involved in all aspects of Rotary, President of this Club 1998/99, and held every position except Treasurer. Made numerous makeups and enjoyed every moment.
Tell me what made you join so quickly, did you know anything about Rotary before you joined.
I believe you have 100% attendance, don't you?
Yes, I was aware of Rotary, at Oakey where I was an Auctioneer and Livestock Manager, there was a Rotary Club there and I had been asked to join. However, due to my work commitments I could not attend meetings but did become a "Friend" of Rotary assisting with their projects.
At my first Calpac meeting I was made very welcome and I also felt, as a new business person in town, it was a good way to meet other business people, so that was the main reason I joined.
An aside, the person I bought the Real Estate business from was a Lion as was my receptionist’s husband, so I could have easily joined the Lions Club also!
