The meeting commenced and was chaired by Peter Asher.

The International toast was proposed by Marion Schultz and was a general overview of Brazil where there are 55,000 Rotarians, 2200 clubs and it is the third biggest Rotary country in the world.

Birthday greetings to Peter Asher (today!), Ross Harrison and Lyn Millar.

President David Wallis thanked members for their donations and support of Rotary Foundation.

Tony Long noted The Golf Club had been very supportive of our annual Golf Day in October and thanked them for their continued support in 2026.

Eve McCorkell noted Les Pontin was at the St Vincent de Paul sleepout tonight and he had this year raised $23,900 -  what a splendid effort this is.  Update - Vinnies have raised $10,000,000 Australia wide!!!

Will Waterford reminded us of Changeover night next Thursday, themed Casino Royale, this being our first meeting at The Power Boat Club.   Please RSVP, if you haven't already!

President David took the opportunity to present the caterers, Annalis and Tony and also Graham, the Club Barman at the Caloundra Golf Club with “thank you” gifts, as this is our last meeting we are holding here before relocating to The Power Boat Club next week.   

Win Fowles introduced and thanked the guest speaker.

Dr David Cooksley, being The Modern Military Doctor, (Emergency and Retrieval Physician) shared many of the experiences he has had in the Armed Services, this being second to none and includes active service in Afghanistan, service in Britain, service in the US Navy and service in US Mercy Ships; he currently works with the RAAF in Canberra and is also in the reserve.  He is  currently employed by The Department of Emergency Medicine Sunshine Coast, he  has a degree and distinction in Trauma Science in London MERT (Medical Emergency Response Team). Other past achievements include Director of Operations – North Qld for CareFlight also lecturing at The University of Qld and James Cook University are other achievements he has accomplished. Possibly one of the best speakers we have had at the club and is a person of great humility and experience.

After the raffles were won, the meeting closed at 8.15 pm.
