Tony Long opened the meeting and introduced our visitors.

President Peter Asher inducted into our club, Janet and Vern Brown, Rotarians from the Yeppoon club, who have recently retired to Baringa.   A circle of friendship was formed to greet them both.

President Peter also informed us that we now have our own tablecloths, saving the club paying for them every week. Peter also informed us about the Nambour Club cooking event on Saturday the 25 th starting at 5.30 AM
Club Service - Eve is registering members to go to “Spinners” ten pin bowling next week.
Community Service - Suzanne advised us that there is a Bunnings BBQ on the 4 th of October and has started on the trailer raffle. The Golf Day on the 9th of October.

A young crash survivor speaks to students about the causes of his crash. His name is Jaxson Jung and he was happy for me to take his photo. Note that no student can be identified as per the request from the schools.

The live demonstration of a vehicle travelling too fast and hitting i dummy s always popular with the students

Brian Wallace uses his private vehicle to tow our RYDA trailer around Corbould Park for the Speed and Stopping demonstration.

Members Moments.
Coming up next year is the clubs 50 years anniversary we will need to get a plan together to make this a memorable occasion.

Past president David Wallis gave Geoff Leddy a PHF for his ongoing support of our RYDA program.

Greig has a dais for RYDA. It is working to improve communication with the students.

Tony Long spoke about the upcoming Golf Day and said he would appreciate help finding a few more teams to make it another outstanding event. He thanked Mark for donating wine and Bronwynne for donating art.

Ross introduced Rotarians Bronwynne and Noel Bates as our guest speakers.
The Umoja Orphanage is located in Ukunda, Kenya.
It was founded by Rotarian Cathy Booth in 2011 and opened in 2016. It cares for children who are orphaned, abandoned, or chronically
neglected.   Noel and Bronwynne have taken part in three “Voluntours,” spending 10 days helping at the orphanage by cleaning, sewing, preparing maize for milling, painting, fencing, and assisting wherever needed. Afterward, they go on an African safari to experience the wildlife.
Noel and Bronwynne have also raised $12,000, including $1,000 from our club, to help the orphanage purchase essential items such as
mosquito nets, shoes, school supplies, and materials for a more sanitary chicken-processing facility.
Ross thanked them for everything they do and said that it was a truly a “Service above Self” project.
Ricki Ticki was won by our newest member Vern.
The raffle was a fun part even though I did not win the chocolates.
Tony closed the meeting.
