What a terrific night our meeting was last Thursday night.
Our meeting was held in Ross Harrison’s hangar. Warbirds Hangar at Caloundra Airport with Ross and Ray’s Tiger Moths and Spearman for company!
Superbly catered for by Peter Asher and Wendy Hoskins.
We know there were some problems to overcome but we appreciate the effort that went into producing the delicious food, Thanks Peter and Wendy.
The meeting was opened by our Sergeant Geoff Leddy.
It was terrific to have so many partners attend as well, they were -
Janice Capps, Maria Carroll, Robyn Hills, Wendy Hoskins, Sylvia Hovey, Cheryl Leddy, Janelle Long, Sharon Seymour, Donna Waterford.
We also had a visitor from up north, Fay Peterson, a guest of Tony and Jan Long.
Two members have birthdays to celebrate, Neville Woodforth on 13th and Mike Healy on 16th.
Our guest speaker Ray Capps was introduced by Ross Harrison and Ray took us on the journey of his career in Aviation beginning as a much younger man flying a Tiger Moth, working with Ansett Airlines, Qantas and Emirates - teaching and supervising others to fly all sorts of planes including the Boeing 777.
We were all relieved to know how the pilots rested on the long distance flights from Australia to Europe and the United States.
A very interesting and informative talk from on of our own members.
Ray was thanked for his talk by Ross and all the members.
The usual raffle was drawn and the chocolates shared among members and fellowship continued after the meeting for some time as we watched Ross bring his helicopters back into the hangar with the help of Robyn and to a lesser extent, Will.
It was a very good night of fellowship and learning about the background of one of our own members.
At next weeks Meeting, we have Brendan Hogan, from Wishlist - please register by Monday 5 pm for catering purposes.
And not forgetting - book your seats for Christmas in the Hangar, otherwise you may be in the back row!
