Calpac Capers
Calpac Capers 6th November 2025
Sargeant Peter Asher opened the meeting with members reciting Grace and the 4 Way Test, preceded by the Loyal Toast.
Birthdays, Anniversaries and years of membership were remembered.

Will Waterford delivered the International Toast to the Rotary Club of Bangalore North, India.
Bangalore, a city of 10.5 million people, is home to more than 24 Rotary clubs. The Bangalore North club meets on Friday evenings at the Rabano Rotary Hall of Vision. It is an active and community-focused club involved in a range of impactful projects, including:
a) drilling water bores for rural communities
b) conducting medical camps at schools with doctors providing health checks, particularly for eye and dental issues
c) supporting World Polio Day
d) promoting Blood Donation Day
Will proposed a toast to the Rotary Club of Bangalore North, recognising them as a vibrant club doing outstanding work with “Service Above Self” at the heart of all they do.

As November is Foundation Month, Ross Harrison gave a presentation promoting the Rotary Foundation. He highlighted how the Foundation transforms members’ contributions into service
projects that change lives both locally and around the world. Since its establishment more than 100 years ago, the Foundation has invested over US$4 billion in life-changing, sustainable initiatives. For as little as 60 cents, a child can be protected from polio; a $50 donation can provide clean water to help prevent waterborne diseases; and $500 can fund an anti-bullying campaign to create safer environments for children.
In the past year alone, the Foundation supported:
* US$30 million for 485 District Grants
* US$4 million for 106 Disaster Response Grants
* US$72 million for 1,287 Global Grants
* US$2 million for one Programs of Scale Grant

Vocational Talk by Peter Asher
Peter was introduced to Rotary by Peter Hovey in 2012, and his first international project took him to the Solomon Islands to install water tanks. He is passionate about contributing to this great organisation and acknowledges that he couldn’t have achieved what he has without the support of his partner, Wendy. As Peter says, “Let’s get out there and help wherever we can — for all those who don’t have a home, a car, or food on the table.”

ClubRunner Mobile App Presentation by Mike Healy
At our last meeting, Mike presented an overview of the The ClubRunner Mobile App. It is designed to keep members connected and engaged wherever they are. Key features include:
 Easy Event Registration: Sign up for club events quickly through a user-friendly interface.
 Seamless Communication: Effortlessly message or call fellow members, and access contact details and directions directly from the app.
 Member Directory & Dashboard: Quickly find members, view upcoming events, and access important club information from the main dashboard.
 Personalization & Security: Update your profile, manage contact details, and control app permissions for a tailored experience.
The app is available on both the Apple App Store and Google Play Store—just search for “ClubRunner” and ensure you download the official version by ClubRunner Solutions Inc. Getting started is easy: log in with your club credentials or use the magic link sent to your email.

Director’s Reports
Membership – Will Waterford. He has had 27 responses to the survey that was sent to all members. Results will be available presently. Members Handbook was handed out to all members present, thanking Clive Seymour for his work in collating the information together.
Vocational – Barb Bailey. Jackson Hopkins was named Rotarian of the Month. There are 3 places remaining for the TAFE dinner on the 13 th of November at 6pm.
Youth - Bruce Radford. There have been few Youth Volunteer Declaration forms submitted to date.
These forms are a required adjunct to the Blue Card. Any member involved with Rotary Exchange students or volunteering at RYDA must complete this form and provide three referees (only one of whom may be a Rotarian). Bruce will attend the STEMM graduation at the Nambour RSL on 25 November. Plans are also underway to install a billboard on Caloundra Road, welcoming visitors to Caloundra on behalf of the Rotary Club of Caloundra Pacific.
International – Ross Harrison. Ross thanked the Board and members for their continued support of the Philippines Project and for approving the funds required to proceed with the construction of the teachers’ accommodation. The architect, a Rotarian from the Rotary Club of Cauayan, has been notified. A return visit to the Philippines by members is planned for April 2026. Bunnings BBQs are being considered as a fundraising initiative.
Club Services – Evelyn McCorkell. Promotion continues for Christmas in the Hangar, with proceeds from the evening supporting DV Safe Phones. To date, 52 tickets have been sold.
Members are encouraged to attend and invite friends and family to what promises to be a wonderful event. Grants received will cover the event’s costs, meaning that all ticket sales, bar purchases, and raffle proceeds will go directly to the cause. Suggestions are welcome for a social night on 27 November.
Community – Suzanne Lee-Archer. The Christmas Trailer Raffle commenced last week, with a bumper weekend on Saturday and Sunday. The costs of the trailer and goods are already covered, so all funds raised from this point forward will be profit. There are still several gaps in the volunteer roster for both the Pelican Waters Shopping Centre and the Bulcock Street Markets.  Members are encouraged to put their names down for a shift (or two) to help keep the momentum going.

Members Moments
Peter Asher – Anyone requiring wide-brimmed Rotary hats (for volunteering at the Bulcock Street Markets) or any other items from RDU is asked to contact Peter, who will organise a bulk order
and cover the postage costs.
Win Fowles – Win wishes to thank Ray Capps for taking on the Guest Speaker Coordinator role commencing in 2026. He also extends his heartfelt thanks to everyone for their support, input, and contributions over the years. Ross H would like to thank Win for all his hard work over the years in sourcing great Guest Speakers.
Graeme Bowden – has just returned after travelling through Europe and would like to give thanks that he is an Australian.
Marion Schultz - Every Monday, Marion generously donates a few hours of her time at the CCSA Hall, which currently has no available funds for cleaning or maintenance. Are there any other
members interested in lending a hand? A quarterly roster could be set up to share the workload and ensure all necessary tasks are completed.

Riki Tiki was conducted by Mike Healy, with Win F taking the prize.
Peter A did an outstanding job of collecting fines from Rotarians.
Graeme B, David J and Evelyn Mc were the winners of the raffle.
Sargeant Peter thanked everyone for their attendance and looked forward to a great evening at the TAFE college on the 13th November.
