September 2026 Board Meeting Notes President's Report Fundraising: President Peter highlighted a packed schedule ahead and issued a challenge for all members to get actively involved—particularly in ticket sales for the Christmas Trailer Raffle—to surpass last year's results. Homelessness Outreach: 10 Shelterbags were delivered to the Salvation Army at The House of Hope in Caloundra, where members observed the Orange Sky mobile laundry in operation alongside the Salvos weekly BBQ. Salvation Army representative James has been invited to speak at an upcoming meeting. Club Laptop Grant Approved: Local Councilor Terry Landsberg approved a $1,500 discretionary grant for the club to purchase a new laptop. Community Service Major Fundraisers: Bunnings BBQ (Sunday 4 October): Morning shift runs 7:30am–12:00pm and afternoon shift runs 12:00pm–4:30pm. Board approved donating 10 Shelterbags to St Vincent de Paul funded from BBQ proceeds. Charity Golf Day (Friday 9 October): 30 teams are registered for the event. Featured raffle prizes include a $500 Robyn Hills photography session, an IGA Caloundra coffee machine ($170 value), a Gift Pack from Bluey's Photography and 43 bottles of wine donated by members. Christmas Trailer Raffle (Nov–Dec): Selling sites are locked in at Pelican Waters Village (Saturdays in Nov), Colliers / Woolworths (13 Nov & Saturdays in Dec), and Caloundra Markets (Sundays Nov–Dec). Ticket printing is generously sponsored by Hear 4 Good. The prize package features 3 tiers with a total combined value of $6,000. Project Thank-Yous; Grants: Appreciation certificates have been prepared for YouTurn project helpers, with a thank-you platter approved for Glenview Turf. The board re-confirmed a $1,000 donation to the Inner Wheel Club of Sunshine Coast for birthing kits. International Service Highlights Philippines Sister Club MOU: The board formally approved the Sister Club Agreement with the Rotary Club of Cauayan (RID 3770). Two signed physical copies will be delivered to the Philippines in October by Dan Thomassan. Buyasan School Water Project Complete: Teacher accommodation and fresh water infrastructure are fully completed at Buyasan School, providing clean running water on-site for the first time in 2 years. Kiva & Christmas Boxes: Kiva microfinance repayments continue smoothly with an account balance of $486.84. The Christmas Box project is closing in on its target of 100 gift boxes. Youth & Vocational Service Updates RYDA Leader Honoured - Neville Woodforth was recognised as a finalist for the Community Champion Award and awarded a Paul Harris Fellow for 18 years and over 3,600 hours of service to road safety education. Rotary Signage: Board approved funding to update the meeting venue sticker on the Caloundra Road Rotary sign. Vocational Visits: Upcoming vocational events include a visit to Best Practice Eye Care on 22 October (featuring drinks and canapés) and a tour of the new Life Flight facility on 12 November. Club Service, Mental Health & Social Save the Date: Mark your calendars for the Annual Club Christmas Party on Thursday, 17 December 2026. Mental Health & Domestic Violence Initiatives: Discussion took place on supporting AG Tex Pipke's Rotary for Mental Health purple shirt campaign and the “Love Bites” respectful relationships program in local schools.
