Sergeant Michael Berris welcomed members and guests to the meeting and gave an Acknowledgement of Country as a tribute to Naidoc Week 4-11 July. The Royal Toast and Rotary grace were celebrated. President Greig Welcomed guest speaker Michael Henning, visiting Rotarian Stuart Coward, Kath Aspinall and club members. Membership Will Waterford announced that Mary Barber has signed membership forms to join Calpac. Her application will be submitted to the Board. International Toast David Millar (52nd Rotary anniversary) gave the toast to Lae/Min Gulf Rotary Club (originally the Rabaul Rotary Club). The club meets each Tuesday evening at the Lae International Hotel and is led by President Katherine Galo. The club uses a Charity Golf Day and Black Tie Ball to raise funds for its service programs. Vocational Talk Born at the end of WWII, Bruce Radford earned an Agricultural Science Degree and Masters Degree from the University of Queensland. For the next 43 years he conducted research, for the Qld Gov around the Biloela and Toowoomba areas. His studies concerned: soil computation, controlled traffic farming, soil salinity and sustainable agriculture. Bruce's research has been widely adopted by the grain industry and has had a huge impact. Directors Moment Matt Lyn advised that Take Action for Pumicestone Passage was a success this morning. The Rotary Club of Caloundra Pacific will continue to contribute to the group on the second Thursday morning of each month. The group will primarily focus on the area between Bills Boat Hire and the jetty. Peter Hovey announced that the vocational talks roster will be completed shortly and amalgamated into the club's duty roster. Secretary Christine Craig is continuing to advertise the Rotary Rummage Sale to be held at 9am on 17th July 2021 at the CCSA Hall. Volunteers are needed - please contact Christine if you are available to help. Geoff Leddy reminded members that RYDA will continue in 2021-22. Please refer to the club calendar for dates. Members who wish to assist should contact Geoff. Treasurer Brian Reith requested the payment of half yearly dues as soon as possible. These were due on the 30 June 2021. If you are having difficulties paying please let Brian know. Will Waterford has contacted Maroochydore members to let them know the Rotary journey can continue at our club. Maroochydore requested volunteers to assist in their mock interviews which they have been successfully conducting for years. President Greig thanked members who attending the changeover dinner and thanked Robyn Hills for her photography. |
