Les Pontin, our sergeant opened the meeting, plus he also read a bit of laughable poetry towards the end of the meeting, that he wrote himself!
Tony Long delivered our international toast and took an interesting approach in that he investigated the number of clubs in Israel and in the Gaza area.
He eventually decided that the biggest issue facing the area was the achievement of Peace and as such proposed his toast to Rotary’s efforts towards Peace in the area and world.

Member's moments
Tony Long congratulated the organizing team for a very successful golf day, making special mention of Jackson Hopkins, Adam and Joey Mogg, Greig and Suzanne Lee-Archer. Whilst the figures are not available as yet, he believes we have certainly exceeded last years result.
Guest Speakers
Bruce Kelly and Paulette Steele from Maleny club were introduced by Ray Capps.
Both Bruce and Paulette spoke about their respective flying careers.
Bruce first trained and flew in British Columbia Canada, gaining his Commercial license in 1974. During his career he had the opportunity to fly the Iconic Beaver Float plane as well as its larger version, the Otter. On coming to Australia, he flew in far North Queensland and the Northern territory.
Paulette Steele was encouraged by her father to take up flying but due to the cost, she initially took up gliding, then sailing and eventually learned how to fly in a Flying Skyfox and learned how to fly in Caloundra. Whilst living here she progressed even further and became an instructor. Unfortunately, due to work commitments she moved to Sydney and whilst she continued to fly as often as she could she found it difficult to continue and her skills began to taper off.
Both speakers were very interesting with unusual career paths
Mark Paton ran Rikki Tikki again and Win Fowles took out the prize.
Les Ponton as Sergeant fined us all, of course! And there's always the raffle winners to compensate!
Next week we have a combined meeting with some members of the local Lions Club and the week after is a social night - let's visit the new pizza location on the outdoor back deck at the Kings Beach Surf Club - magic views, a great place to socialise, weather permitting!
Activities from other Clubs - thanks Win Fowles
R/C Murrumbidgee Canberra has an unusual project each year at Canberra's Floriade. They sell terracotta gnomes which are then painted by small (and big) children, with the club then lacquering the paint so the gnome can live happily in its owner's garden. The club supplies paint and brushes. It's a fun fundraiser.
