Guest Speaker:
Amanda Clayton – Hospital PJ’s
Introduced by Susan Lee-Archer

Amanda Clayton spoke briefly on her personal life. She is married with two (2) children, Sophie, who suffered life threatening strokes from the age of 4, is now 20 yrs, and Elliot is now 19 yrs and both are at university. Amanda worked in banking before Sophie was born and now works across three Universities doing research in Adult to Pediatric levels for Stroke. Co-Chair for Family Exchange Council. Because of Sophie's experiences in hospital, Amanda quietly started Hospital PJs with a simple yet ambitious goal: to ensure that every sick child has access to comfortable, cheerful clothing that uplifts their spirits and respects their dignity - all without cost to their families - she is the founder of Hospital PJ's, which is achieving her goal.
The PJ's are locally made in Darra, Brisbane, by an owned and run Australian family business. Hospital PJ’s retail for $29.95 with cost at approx. $12.00. Can be purchased online. One (1) set of Hospital PJs are provided free for a child admitted to the Brisbane Royal Children Hospital at this stage. A card is included with Hospital PJ’s when packaged; cards are made by Sophie with ‘Dad Jokes’ inside.
Amanda is looking for Sponsorship not donations and is hoping to raise $100,000 this year and seeking help from all Rotary Clubs to do this.
The aim is to make Hospital PJ’s available to all children in hospitals across Queensland then the rest of Australia, and eventually overseas.
