Sergeant Win open a meeting by welcoming the guest speakers, Sarah, Millie and Maya, from the Kawana State high school along with deputy principal Anne Allen and science teacher Janelle Greenhaigh. Visitors included Guy Teerink (Maya’s father) as well as Peter Asher and Ray Capps.
International post toast was proposed by Max Mayne to the Rotary club of Bothaville in the Free State Province of South Africa. The club consists of only eight members and the president is Hercules Grobler. They meet on the first and last Monday of the month. Despite being only a small club they have successfully established and run a complex of eight small houses established in 1982. Currently it houses nine elderly residents at a very modest rent. Bruce Radford introduced the guest speakers.
Sarah, Millie and Maya are three girls from the Kawana State high school that we co-sponsored to the National Youth Science Forum.
Our club has co-sponsored Sarah, Maya and Millie with the Rotary Club of Mooloolaba because we believe there is good value in this program. Since 1984, more than 13,000 young Australians have progressed through this Year 12 program. In previous years, it was called the National Science Summer School.

Maya has received the Future Innovator Award from the ADF and the George Alexander Scholarship with Earth Watch. She leads the STEM portfolio at her school organising science week activities and was the secretary of the Interact Rotary Club raising funds for a range of charities.
Sarah is a passionate STEM student, her favourite areas being Engineering, Microbiology and Chemistry. She is a student leader, sport captain, representative netball player, and vice-president of her Interact Club.
Millie is fascinated with chemistry, and is the Student Council President and the Environmental portfolio leader. She wants to study veterinary science, and has plans to work in the ADF as a canine trainer.

With all the negative press we see about the youth of today, it was absolutely wonderful to hear these three girls speak of their plans and experiences so far. We just have to remember there are a lot more like these young people.
Sergeant Win did a wonderful job fining everyone.
The ruffle was drawn and it was good to see one of the guests amongst the prize winners.
Win then closed the meeting and thanked everyone for their attendance.
Great to see a few members and guests still chatting after the meeting too.
NOTICES
1. We still need a Club member to become our Club Secretary on 1st July; it is a fairly typical company secretary role - organise Board Meetings, take notes, check correspondence and distribute or file as necessary. Please consider this role as we can't operate as a Club without one.
2. Numbers for the ROMAC Trivia night need to be gathered and sent in to Greig by end of the month, along with ticket money for each table (Reference Table Name) too.
3. Next week our guest speaker is Calpac Member Peter Harding - "Are we there yet?". Partners are welcome to also come along as they are to any of our meetings.
4. Meeting Registrations is not an easy job if members don't register by 5 pm on Tuesday - Annalis has to order the food that she needs from her supplier ahead of time, so please make it a bit less time consuming by registering by the deadline please, so that we can give her numbers on Tuesday evening!
