Sergeant Win opened the meeting and welcomed all, including partners Lyn and Wendy as well as exchange students Terka and Amanda (from Brazil).
President David called for donations to the Rotary Foundation as the Rotary year comes to a close.
Both exchange students spoke briefly of their exploits of recent times.
Terka has moved back to Noel & Bronwynne’s and will give her farewell talk in 3 weeks.
Amanda is from Sao Paulo state, Brazil and is hosted by the Rotary Club of Cleveland.
International toast was given by Ross Harrison to the Rotary Club of Galesburg Illinois USA, in DISTRICT 6460.
It was the first Rotary Club in the USA to charted in a town under 25,000 population in June 2007.
Meets Thursday at 12.00 pm at the East bar n grill. They have 39 members. President is Sam Fisk and he looks like about 40 years old.
Projects include:
* supporting literacy programs to empower their community.
* the Galesburg government Day participating in local government event to engage the community.
* Rotary international foundation contributing to the international initiatives and projects.
* International youth exchange facilitating student exchange programs to foster global understanding.
* Supporting high school students with special needs with an interact club.
* Installed solar lights to provide lighting in remote areas such as Navaho reservations in Arizona USA.
International Director Ross reported that this past week was the hand over of the teacher’s accommodation for the school in the Philippines. He had a very nice letter of thanks in which they expressed their appreciation of having a bed with a nice mattress to sleep on. They still do not have running water but that is next on the list.
Membership Director Will advised that changeover will be at the Power Boat Club and that future meeting will be there form then onwards.
Youth Director Bruce advised that this year RYDA will have reached 20,000 students since 2009. Bruce and Barbara are interviewing a student this weekend with the possibility of a short-term exchange.
Incoming President Peter reported that 5 members are helping the Nambour Rotary Club at the Nambour Showgrounds.
Vinnies Sleepout is happening next Thursday on 18th June - so still time to make a donation, nothing is too small and nothing is too big - support Les Pontin who has raised over $18,000 so far, for his Vinnie’s 2026 sleep out.
