David Wallis who is our president for another year, thank you David, highlighted the major events that we have supported during 2024-2025 and will continue to do so for 2025-26..
The theme for the evening was "Touch of Gold" as shown in the following slide show images.  President finished with statement for the Year Ahead “Steady as she Goes”

Our recent change over ceremony presented an excellent opportunity to review the year just past.

July saw the club participate in our annual Sunshine Coast RYDA program. 19 members participated, contributing 595 hours of support.  1,358 local year students went through the program.  We may never know the effect of this program, however, if the program can prevent just one of those students having a motor vehicle crash and the ensuing trauma, it will have been a sound investment.

August and October the club conducted our Broadway in the Hanger and Golf Day.  December, saw the annual trailer raffle and Christmas Box drive.

In January/February, club members travelled to the Philippines to complete work on the Buyasan Integrated School classroom. This was in addition to the work already completed on the Cauayan Day Care centre kitchen and the Cauayan radio lab (school of the air). The club also provided 250 polo shirts with the Rotary and CAPLAC logos on the back.  As a result, Friday is now blue polo shirt day, keeping the knowledge of Rotary and CALPAC current within school population.

The photo is a good illustration of the Rotary effect. The smile on the young lad’s face is infections and shows the positive impact Rotary is having on his life.

Also, in January we dispatched our outbound Rotary Youth Exchange student Kate O’Farrell to Japan. According to all reports she is having a great time.

March's ROMAC trivia night was postponed due to Cyclone Alfred. The team quickly rescheduled it for April, and it turned out to be an excellent event thanks to the planning and participation of many members.

Overall, throughout the year the Club raised $ 68,879. This money was distributed as follows:

STEPS College                                                           $9,000
LifeFlight                                                                   $9,000
Angle Flight                                                               $9,000
Philippines Project                                                   $17,366
Youth Science Forum                                                $3,000
ROMAC                                                                   $10,000
Rotary Foundation                                                     $6,889
Les Pontin                                                                  $1,000
Inner Wheel                                                                $1,800
MS Super splash                                                           $500
Others                                                                        $1,324

The upcoming year appears promising, with planning already well advanced for most of the club’s major activities within the next six months. The December trailer raffle poses a concern due to the resignation of Peter Higgs, our previous trailer raffle champion. Dan Thomasson has agreed to manage the acquisition of the trailer and its contents; however, we will require assistance with the logistics of storing and moving the trailer into position over the seven weeks of the event.

I would like to formally recognise the exceptional efforts of the Board. Due to my work commitments requiring interstate travel, I could not fulfill my duties as president without the loyalty and support of the board members. They have comprehended my vision and efficiently managed the club's operations and activities in my absence.

In conclusion, I would like to express my gratitude to all members for their contributions to the Rotary Foundation. The Foundation is our charitable organisation, and it is imperative that we continue supporting its exceptional worldwide work. As a result of every member contributing to the Foundation, we have achieved Every Rotarian, Every Year certification.  This certification demonstrates the club’s dedication to the Foundation. This consistent commitment will undoubtedly be advantageous when we pursue Foundation funding for our forthcoming major international project.

As your president, I am honoured by the achievements of our club over the past year. It has been a privilege to attend Rotary functions and clubs, representing myself as the President of the Rotary Club of Caloundra Pacific. This is a testament to your dedicated efforts throughout the year.

I look forward to catching up with all of you at this weeks Business meeting.

Regards, David Wallis, President
