Our trial meeting at the Powerboat Club - everyone ordered their meals from the restaurant downstairs and the staff brought the meals up to our meeting room which was well set up for the 30 of us attending.
Peter Hovey opened the meeting at the Caloundra Power Boat Club at 6.45pm after all the meals were served.
Welcome to Stan Nawrocki, a visiting ex-member and Ray and Vicki Norton.
As this was not a normal meeting as such we used the opportunity to discuss some club issues.
Ross Harrison presented some club statistics showing the decline in membership over the last 2 years, which now sits at 35, but when you take away the 5 members who do not attend meetings or play any role in club activities, we are down to 30 members, with an average age of over 70.
We need to something about gaining new younger more active members, if the club is going to have a long term future.
One of the results from Will Waterford’s membership survey, was members new and old wanted a more flexible meeting registration and format with the issue of having to order a meal also raised.
We have explored many other facilities in Caloundra to maybe accommodate this on a Thursday night and the only one that seems to be able to meet all these requirements is the Powerboat Club. There was much discussion by members on the pros and cons and. It was agreed that an information brief would be sent to members to explain this with a view for the club to take a vote.
Peter Hovey then turned the meeting over for an open Mic session.

Peter Hovey reminded members that the Vocational Excellence awards are on the 21st May and we have 2 nominees but would like 2 more, so please nominate someone in the workplace if you think they have done an outstanding job.
Barb also reminded members that the meeting next week is a visit to Gregson and Weight with dinner at the RSL afterwards and is a partner night.
You may just attend the RSL dinner if you don't want to go to Gregson and Weight first, meet there after 7 pm.

Peter Hovey did a good job of fining members for indiscretions - always some!
