International Toast
Suzanne Lee-Archer toasted the Rotary Club of Radeck 2240 in Chechnya, where our exchange student, 16 yr old student, Terasa Cancover, is coming from.
They meet Monday 6.30 at Brewery House restaurant Czechoslovakia
Local Community events they organise are - Chn marathon relay 200m / Clean up day / Leg press rehab for disabled; Intl Charity Ball 33 500 supporting autism.

Youth Protection qualifications - presented by Club Members Alan Stephens and Noel Bates
Every member needs to do the Rotary Youth Protection course as well as have a Blue Card.
(There is a 40 min training course to do in own time)
If members do not comply and do this training course, there could be repercussions back on to our club.
Likely incidents - Harassment / Neglect / Consent – sexual grooming including greeting hugs etc.

P1 consistency.
P5 roles as directors/chairs but everyone’s roles essential local laws in Australia it is handled by police. Remove the person or student from the area.
3 policy- always 3 of you – to deal with conflicting story when travelling. Permission if needed if travelling out of district (with 3 people). Awareness and prevention
P17 - Culture of safety – policy with training, understanding responsibility.  Watch for changes in personality, can signal something wrong
Take reports of abuse seriously – online Rotary Intl website – as soon as you hear something and get police involved and remove yourself and student from situation – police investigate
P18 - what is and is not acceptable - no full body contact not acceptable, no kiss on lips, shaking hands OK etc
P19 - meeting in public place – 3 strategy – no individual interactions, overnight stays. Electronic communication – grooming to be aware
Recognising abuse – if you think something is inappropriate – then report it
If you don’t address the allegations – the behaviour becomes acceptable so stop the behaviour
P 25 - trusted adult to ask if they want to discuss – 72 h needs to be reported but earlier the better – report to police – confidentiality very important
All reports taken seriously.
Forms to fill in on back of document and interviews – 3 referees
Watch for students who are abusing hosts, members and other students – often to do with culture.
5 D’s? drinking, driving etc
