2015 Caloundra Health Forum

State Member for Caloundra Mark McArdle and the Australian Pensioner Superannuants League Caloundra will host a Health Forum on Diabetes and Prostate Cancer on Friday September 25.

“As Shadow Minister for Health I am concerned about the short and long term impacts disease and poor health have on our community. Sufferers and their families and friends require a tremendous amount of support that extend far beyond front line treatments and an initial diagnosis.

“Media cycles tend to dictate when and for how long topical issues, particularly health issues, stay on our agenda and top of mind. I believe that we as a community have to keep engaging with those who are struggling. We need to keep abreast of the latest research and treatment paradigms. We need to keep searching for better ways and for better health outcomes.

“I encourage people who may be facing challenges with diabetes amanagement or with prostrate cancer to come along and hear from experts in both fields and enjoy morning tea and raffles.

“There is a certain fellowship that comes from a forum such as this, and sometimes just to know that you are not alone, and there is hope, is a big help,” Mr Mcardle said.

President of the APSL Caloundra branch, Mr Frank Gower said the main objective of their group, and indeed their involvement in events such as this one, was to achieve social inclusion and mutual respect.

A gold coin donation will be shared by Diabetes Queensland and Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia.
