Good Morning to all the Presidents in District 9600 for this year, 2015 – 2016.

Now that everyone has had time to settle into their new roles, I would like to take a moment and introduce myself , although I have had the pleasure of meeting some of you, I am keen to make contact with the entire District 9600 team.

Australian Rotary Health is an amazing organisation of the Rotary arm – something that every Rotarian in Australia should be so very proud of – Australia born and raised !  in the life time of the organisation over $ 33m has been raised and disbursed to scholarships – what an incredible difference that makes to research on the many issues we are all facing today.  We have made a huge difference in areas such as : -

·         Sudden Infant Death syndrome.
·         Alzheimer’s Disease,
·         Malaria,
·         Adolescent, Family and Elderly health issues.
·         Mental Health
·         Breast Cancer
·         Motor Neuro Disease
·         Diabetes, Epilepsy
·         Indigenous Health
·         Bowel Cancer
·         Ovarian Cancer
·         Rural Heath -  and more.

This amazing work is not possible, without the support of the clubs, without fundraising , without the conversation being had………….. and I would like, very much, to have the opportunity to come and speak with each and every Club this year as to what Australian Rotary Healthy is doing, and what we can all do, as Rotarians to assist.

As you know , October is a special month as it is dedicated to Mental Health, an issue that I believe is the biggest one facing our Society today – so I am hoping that every Club will have a ‘  Hat Day ‘  and if there is anything that you need to make the day even more special, call me.  It does not have to be just Mental Health   / Hat day -  it can be any month at any time of the year   -   but Hat Day is locked in.

I also want to put an idea on the table for Clubs to consider.  It seems to me, that everyone is having a ‘ walk for  ……   ‘,  I have seen some very successful ones here on the coast -  walk for Breast Cancer, Walk for Bowel Cancer etc .. I would love to see every Club in District do a ‘  Walk for Mental  Health ‘…………. I see it as a fun way to raise money, and am doing some research into make it as easy as we can – for discussion.

Please feel  free to contact me anytime, and I very much look forward to meeting as many of you as I can in the year ahead,

Warm regards – let’s make this year, that we  really are a ‘ Gift to the World.
