President Dan's Message

What a great night at the RACQ Careflight Airbase! A special thanks to Jeanette Newson, Angela Miles and all the crew at the base for giving us an inside view of the operations. Special thank you to Brad Eldred once again for organising the drinks. The Rotary Club of Caloundra Pacific has an incredibly good name in the community. Our members are the driving force behind our recognition and I would like to thank Di Latham, Kevin Leadbetter, Brad Eldred, Ken Hinkly, Bryan Mason, Cedric Gowlett and Mike Healy for their time at the BBQ at Fiesta at Kings. The Caloundra State School P&C are very grateful.

This week we have the opportunity to get to know Alana Berghofer, our outgoing Youth Exchange Program Student, a little better. Alana will be talking to our club Thursday night and I would like to invite all partners, family and friend to this night. The Rotary YEP is possibly the best exchange program in the world and through our organisation we will give Alana a fantastic life changing experience.

Neville Woodforth received good news last week that our Expression of Interest for the Community Grant was approved. The next step, the actual application, will be more involved. Fingers crossed we will get good news before Christmas. This grant will allow our club to purchase a pantec trailer for our bbq and equipment. RYDA will also benefit with a trailer and more necessities for the program.

Ross is looking after our Melbourne Cup event at the Sunshine Coast Turf Club. For $25 per person we get entry to the Corbould Park and a table in the member's area. Please contact Ross if you are interested.

Unfortunately Lyn Saunders is ill and requires a replacement for the month of October as the Fellowship Officer. Could someone please volunteer for this position by contacting me.

We nearly have a full board together for next year - however we are missing one critical position - the President Elect. The President position for 2017-18 would be a rewarding endeavour and I would encourage any Rotarian, old or new to put their hand up. You will have the full support of the club.
