This month's Rotary theme is Membership. My interpretation of this theme is not about growing membership but rather exploring the benefits of being a Rotarian within our local and international communities. As a member of Rotary International, every Rotarian plays a role in a 'bigger picture'. Through our combined efforts we tackle worldwide problems such as polio eradication and at a local level we enjoy in fellowship and networking.

We have a busy few months coming up, with many events to look forward to. Next week we have Angela Miles from RACQ Careflight speaking to us. Only last week, Angela won Sunshine Coast Business Woman of the Year. We have vocational visits to Nexberg, our local esky manufacturers in Caloundra and a visit to the RACQ Careflight Air Base at the Sunshine Coast Airport. We also have a social night organised at Gurkhali Nepalese Restaurant, a student prepared dinner at Mooloolaba TAFE and the hospitality students of Caloundra High will also host a night not to forget.

With all this, comes endless hours of preparation by many members of the Rotary Club. The monthly rosters are working out fantastic and we have decided to approach the room setup roster from the same angle. I would like to request someone to volunteer for the weekly attendance position. This is an easy task and full training on Clubrunner will be provided.

So far we have had two nominations for board positions next year. President-Elect Mike Healy is looking forward to having a full board in place prior to end of the year. Any member can nominate for a position on the board as no skills are necessary (obviously, as I am President).

Mal Brough briefly discussed with us a couple of weeks ago about local community grants available. I would like to thank Neville Woodforth with taking this a step further and submitting an application. The majority of this grant will be for two lockable trailers, one for storage of RYDA equipment and the other for storage of our club's BBQ and other equipment.

Until next time, have a good week.
