One of the highlights of any President's year is to induct new members. President Dan had the pleasure of inducting Greg Lee-Archer to the world of Rotary and to Caloundra Pacific. Greg and his wife Suzanne were introduced by Ross Harrison. Greg & Suzanne have 3 children and 2 grand children. Greg works for Westpac Banking and Finance in the Commercial Division, his area covers from Caloundra to Bundaberg.

David Millar reported that the Clean up Australia project went well, despite the vest arriving 2 days late!!

Rotarian Neville reminded us that the next RYDA is on 23rd March and involves Pacific Lutheran College and Caloundra Christian College.

Barbara Bailey (shoulder) and Evelyn McCorkill (hip) were back at the meeting after recent surgeries and time spent in the same rehabilitation facility.

RIKI TIKI was conducted by Peter Hovey and won by Mike Healy.

SERGEANT-at-ARMS Peter Asher extracted money from all.

We had several Guest Speakers.

First we had Jade from Caloundra SHS and Alex from Merridan State College speak on what the REAP Scholarship provided by Caloundra Pacific means to them. Both were very thankful as the scholarship took some of the financial pressures of them and allowed them to concentrate on their studies.
Next we had Riley and Kate who spoke on their recent experiences at the NYSF in Canberra earlier this year.
Riley’s field of interest is in computer science and Kate’s interests lie in health sciences.
They explained that there were allocated to their interest group as well as two other groups so that they got broad exposure to the science fields available.
They had lectures from top scientists who made the topics interesting and valuable.
Both had to give a 5 minute talk on their chosen subject in front of the entire cohort – a daunting task that was handled well.
A high light was a home stay with Rotarians that allowed some rest and relaxation in their busy schedule.
Both spoke well and confidently and thanked Caloundra Pacific for the opportunity.

Rotarian Peter Higgs thanked Riley and Kate on behalf of the club.

The raffle was drawn and won.

President Dan thanked all for coming and we closed the meeting with the singing of Advance Australia Fair.
