Last week's meeting

A very successful joint meeting of the Rotary clubs of the Sunshine Coast was held at the University of the Sunshine Coast last Wednesday.

 

Caloundra Pacific Rotary Club was presented with a plaque acknowledging our cumulative contributions of $10,000 to the Community Fund. This was happily accepted by President Dan on behalf of the members.

 

We heard from the three Post grad students, Ms Gail Loader, Ms Lara Meital &Ms Rachele Wilson, who were beneficiaries of the Scholarships. All spoke very well and were very thankful for their Scholarships.

 

The guest speaker, Dr Greg Nash, a 2006 Scholarship winner, then spoke on what the Scholarship meant to him at the time. For him it meant that for a semester he could quit his part time job and concentrate on his studies without the fear and worry of where the money was coming from to feed his young family.

 

It makes you proud to be a Rotarian to hear these sort of stories.  We should never forget the influence we as individuals and as a group of Rotatians can have on the life of others!!!

 

It it was a terrific night and Win should be congratulated for his role in the proceedings.
