What a great Guest Speaker that we had in Jacqui Deane last week. The STEMM program goes far beyond helping young mothers with education and extends to child abuse, sexual abuse, homelessness and domestic violence. Several of the girls currently in the program at Burnside are from Caloundra and they all need our help. The education is government funded and Queensland Health helps out a lot with the Child Health Nurse and Midwife but they fall short in their counselling, food, transport, and assisting the participants at home.

This week the AGM has been cancelled. However we will still have a meeting and possibly a guest speaker, if anyone knows of someone willing to address us on short notice.

Ray White has been in contact with us again, and will be conducting the Christmas Appeal once again asking for boy and girls gifts. This year I have contacted Joel Archer at Hope Within Reach to see if he would be happy to be the recipient of the gifts for children in need in our local community.

As some people have noticed, Aub has been away for a few weeks, please find email below from Aub:

Now that I am back in the land of the living, thought it about time to give you an update on my health and goings on.

Arrived back in Buderim from St Andrews on Friday after a triple by pass and aortic valve replacement. Everything went well with the surgery which took over 7 hours. Unfortunately had a few dramas in Intensive care with what was supposed to be 1 day stay in ICU but turned into five, and then when back in the ward where my heart threw itself out of rhythm, so that took another day to stabilise. As a result my progress had been set back a bit. Since being in Buderim everything is going fine getting stronger and healthier with each day.

They thought that I may have been able to go home today, but have decided to move me into Rehab for a while, so hoping for a weekend release, but that is up to the Docs.

My appetite is starting to come back and my taste buds can actually taste food now, although the dream of that glass of red in the future is keeping me focussed.
I have had good reports from both the surgeon and my Cardiologist, with time being the only thing to getting me back to full strength.
See you soon Aub!
