As the Golf Club was not available on 1st August, a social night was planned.
AND it has been reported that our social night was supported by 7 of our members who managed to come sixth at the Trivia night at the Moffat Beach Distillery last week – well done!   Hope you had some laughs.

Update on other activities
Robyn Hills, our wonderful Calpac supporter is with the RAW Impact Org.  project (I believe Ross is off in another direction but I don’t have any details!)  ……..
A day of making new connections and finding suppliers.
Thank you Shirley Leacy for the introduction to meet with Nuon and Someth - a highly respected Dentist, that shared some of their story with me.
Turns out Someth has collaborated with Rotary Club of Caloundra Pacific - ROMAC in bringing Cambodian children to Brisbane for extensive dental treatments. Someth went to Brisbane to get the training at the time and now can do this work in Phnom Penh.
Srey Nuon San Sa then introduced me to Janene Mcilwrickrick who is building a school here. What an awesome inspirational person!
Then thro Trudy Pooleoole - she connected me to Rotaract Club of Phnom Penh Central. What an incredible group of young professionals - they have projects they’re doing to feed the homeless, give them jackets in winter and a dental hygiene program in rural villages, are just RAWimpactOrg the work they’re doing to support their communities.
I do love how the dots of life bring us together.
Tracked down the Medical Equipment street to get some supplies to help out a small clinic near where Raw Impact are building the bamboo village.

Luckily no rain this year!

HELP - electrician needed!

Each day this week has been quite the adventure. From Phnom Penh by Mini bus, onto a ferry across the Mekong River, out into rural Cambodia’s dirt roads. We were so lucky it didn’t rain and turn the lot into mud like previous years.
Working with the awesome RAWimpactOrg team, who had so much site prep and organisation, was a great experience.
There were 65 Australian’s volunteered to help with continuing construction of a bamboo village. This work is providing a safe home and clean, hygienic conditions for 40 families now, that previously didn’t have a home of their own or were living in dire conditions.
Bonus this year - there has also been a learning centre built to bring free education to the children in the village. Turns out the families are so excited as the adults would also like to learn English.
What a transfer of skills through the I Love Real Estate group - working side by side with the Mum and Dad that are going to live in the house. So much fun to teach Mum to use a nail gun - initially she wasn’t too excited about having to use safety goggles, ear plugs and gloves, but with some interpreting and hand waving, let her know how important safety is.
