RYDA has been an incredibly successful program in our region, aimed at students who are approaching that time in their lives where they can independently use a car.
The learning objectives for students attending RYDA are:

RYDA Objectives
The July 2015 RSE Newsletter states "According to the statistics, the number of young people aged 17-25 years killed in road crashes has decreased over the past decade by an amazing 47%; significantly more than the overall road toll that has fallen by around 29% over the same period. This very significant reduction in youth road trauma is due to many factors; education is an important initiative along with safer cars, safer roads, increased enforcement and the Graduated Licensing Schemes (GLS) for novice drivers.  This supports the Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads Road Safety Statistics, which found that "The major relative decreases of the Queensland Road Toll during 2015 compared with 2014 and with the 2010 to 2014 average were: Involving young adult drivers or riders aged 16 to 24 years - 53 fatalities (or 21.8%) which is two (or 3.6%) fewer than the previous year and 17 (or 24.7%) fewer than the previous five year average." (TMR 2015 Report)

The Role of Rotary (according to RSE) is:
  • To assist the RYDA Program locally through volunteer members in accordance with the documentation and content provided by the National Program Office.
  • To contribute or obtain funding from Rotary Clubs and other local resources to help support the affordability of the Program.
  • To liaise locally with schools, councils and facilitators to encourage participation.
